Did you know that in many Latin American countries, including Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador, Mother’s Day is celebrated on May 10th, no matter what day of the week it lands on? As many of the Cloud & Fire youth’s families are from these Latin American countries, this is a special day for a lot of kids in our programs, whether they are celebrating a Mom, or they themselves are “Mama” for someone.
This year in YouthBuild, we have seen a significant increase in the number of young women in our program, and along with that an increase in the number of young mothers, working hard to finish their high school education. The other day Stephanie, who’s been part of YouthBuild since the beginning of the program in October, brought her 3-year old son in, and we got some great pictures of this little boy with his mother who is making much progress on her path to completing high school. The opportunities that Stephanie is able to have through Cloud & Fire will not only impact her future, but also the future of her son.
Although Cloud & Fire serves specifically youth, our program is not only meant for the kids that come Monday-Friday. It is meant for their families, for their Moms and Dads, or their sons and daughters. We are committed to loving each young person who walks through our doors, showing them the light and love of Christ, that they may bring that light to their families, and pass it on to their children.
As you give thanks for the mothers in your lives this weekend, remember the Moms in and around Cloud & Fire–and pray for their children and families!
