Graduate Reflections

The theme for our 2015-2016 academic year was M.O.R.E–meaning My Opportunity to Rebuild Everything. As we prepared for our seventh group of YouthBuild students to graduate, we asked them to reflect on their time here at Cloud & Fire, specifically what in their lives was rebuilt. Below are some of the responses our graduates shared:

“I cannot thank Cloud & Fire enough. They will always be in my heart. I will always stay connected with these beautiful people.”

–Jordan C.

“Entering Cloud & Fire is like entering a warm and welcoming home; something you don’t expect from a school on the first day. The way the staff take the time to explain everything was so new to me. I came from a school where the teachers never really take the time to teach you. At Cloud & Fire you can feel the love in each classroom. They taught me how to not give up.”

–Juan H.

“Thank you so much for giving me second a chance at a better life. You could have given up on me. I know I wasn’t the best student at times, you could have kicked me out a long time ago, but you didn’t. You saw something in me that I couldn’t see in myself until now.”

–Nathan M.

“I never expected all these adventures I was going to have when I enrolled into this school. The end is here and it feels good to finally finish. This was the best school I’ve ever attended in my life, and I mean that.”

–Edwin L.

“These past few years at Cloud & Fire have been nothing but positive for me. I came in as a lost and confused person. Now, to be a high school graduate is something that I never thought I was going to do.”

–Gerado C.

“Ever since I started coming to this school I have changed my life for the better. I have stopped looking for trouble and doing drugs. I have also rebuilt a lot of relationships that were badly broken.”

–Luis G.

“In the beginning of the year I can honestly say that my mentality was negative. Then one day after hearing so many of the amazing guest speakers in the huddle, I realized that if you want something different, something better, you have to take all the opportunities that come your way.”

–Diana S.

“I’ve learned kindness, humility, wisdom, hope, patience and discipline.”

–Julio T.

“The staff here are really nice, some of the best people I’ve met in a long time. I really appreciate the opportunities and time I’ve been given.”

–Luis M.

“I thank my teachers for the patience and support that they willingly gave me during my time here. I am learning how to be punctual. Getting up every day has made me more responsible and ready for a brighter future.”

–Jeanette F.
